With views of Flagstaff Lake and the mountains of western Maine, this forest offers a prime recreational location adjacent to the Appalachian Trail and vast tracts of public land.

Location

Jerome Brook Forest is located to the east of the Bigelow Mountains and a stone's throw from the shores of Flagstaff Lake. This area is well-known for its many recreational opportunities, from canoeing, rafting and hiking to cross country and downhill skiing and snowmobiling. While relatively remote, the forest has year-round access that makes it a simple drive to the nearest town with basic services, Kingfield. With convenience stores and restaurants, Kingfield is situated on well-traveled Maine Route 27, approximately 20 minutes to the south. Farmington and Skowhegan are regionally significant and offer most commercial and retail services. Both towns are about one hour to the southwest and southeast respectively. Maine's largest city, Portland, is roughly 2.5 hours to the south. Boston, Massachusetts is approximately four and a half hours to the south.

Access

Access is provided by over 4,000' of paved road frontage along Long Falls Dam Road. Near the southeast corner of the property, along Long Falls Dam Road, a gravel road provides access. From this point, over 4,000' of well-built internal gravel roads meander toward knolls in the central portion of the property and a large open area near the northern boundary. The internal road system has been well maintained and is currently passable by most vehicle types.
