NH land for sale
A small field with a commanding view of Mount Kearsarge highlights this multiple-use parcel, which also possesses good access, a growing timber resource and gently rolling topography.
The forest is located on the southwest slope of Searles Hill (1,060' ASL), less than a mile north of the village of Salisbury, New Hampshire. Interstate 89 is approximately 20 minutes away and Boston, Massachussetts is less than 2 hours away.
Access is provided via Center Road, a paved town road with electricity. The parcel is bounded on the north by Searles Hill Road and on the southeast by Bog Road - both are gravel, unmaintained Class VI roads. Both roads are in very good, drivable condition with 4WD vehicles.
Benefitting from a southerly aspect, Searles Hill Forest has a small (4-acre) field along the northern boundary that offers an expansive view of Mount Kearsarge (2,937' ASL) and surrounding ridges. A small ledge outcropping near the center of the forest offers additional long-distance views. The terrain is rolling to gently sloping. A bog parallels much of the western border, offering additional views and wildlife habitat.
The forest consists primarily of hardwood species - e.g., red oak, soft & hard maple, white & yellow birch and some beech. Associated softwoods consist of eastern hemlock, red spruce and occasional white pine. Overall, the timber resource is mostly pole to small sawtimber size. On average, stands are fully stocked with good stem quality. Thinning occurred over portions of the forest with the emphasis on encouraging commercial species and sawlog in-growth.
Serving New England including Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine; the state of New York; and much of the Appalachian region including West Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee.
